Segundas Productions

Segundas is a group of young diverse multicultural Latino’s from an urban inner city background. Creating multimedia productions that break down urban stereotypes, with the love of literature, film and creativity. Having an overall purpose to enlighten, create awareness, and to above all entertain the American and Worldwide public.


History

Seven Latino men from Chicago fed up with Hollywood’s interpretation of Hispanic men -clones of a trigger-happy Tony Montana-, came together on a spring evening in 2008 to conjure Segundas an organization with a mission to adequately represent Latino men through film, art, theater and media.

Each of the seven brings with him his own rich background and experiences. Each member of Segundas has written, performed (and complained) in isolation for years before realizing how he can artistically contribute to the diversity of Latino voices in American society.

They asked themselves, “Why not us? Can we create films and art reflecting who we are? Can we write scripts without the Tony Montana or Carlito’s Way Stereotypes?” They found that the answer to each of their questions was a resounding YES.

Segundas will pioneer a movement through film, art and music that represents all voices within the Latino community.
