Mother Jones Discussion Group - Thursday, June 5th

Do you read magazines like Mother Jones?  Do you like to talk about the ideas you read?  Do you want to know more about the energy crisis?  We do too!  Join our Mother Jones Discussion Group and exchange thoughts and ideas about the current issue with like-minded readers.  As part of the group, you will benefit from new perspectives on articles and contribute to a dialogue that supports understanding of social justice in the community.

Mother Jones is an independent nonprofit whose roots lie in a commitment to social justice implemented through first rate investigative reporting.  The current May/June issue is The Future of Energy: A Special Report.  It's going to take a lot more than changing lightbulbs to get us on the path to sustainability. We investigate the options (solar? nuclear? cow poop?), what's hype, what's really happening, and who's standing in the way of change.

Articles in this issue range from the problem with batteries, to whether nuclear energy is an option, and tells you who is standing in the way change in the article Fossil Fools.  The Seven Myths of Energy Independence explores whether we can actually stop using foreign oil.  Discuss what you think about power companies who claim to clean up their act.

Join the discussion on Thursday, June 5 starting at 6 pm!
