INKBOMBED - Social Graffiti And Hip-Hop In The Millennium
An exhibit by Hugostyle "STEP ONE" presented by Insight Arts.

Inkbombed is an art exhibit by Hugostyle “STEP ONE” which explores graffiti and hip-hop's role in addressing social, racial and economic justice. Since graffiti's earliest forms, globally it has been utilized as a tool for the voiceless and oppressed to express their struggle for social change and draw awareness to issues affecting their communities. Hip-hop's roots in poor inner-city communities are undeniable. Despite the current focus on bling, fame and clubbing, graffiti and hip-hop are still valuable and effective ways to promote progressive social justice movements today. Join us at the opening of Inkbombed as we celebrate the socially conscious side of graffiti and hip-hop. The evening will feature spoken word, art, performances, music, and a panel discussion.

Hugostyle “STEP ONE” was born and raised in Chicago. He began his graffiti art career at 12, molded by his urban upbringing. Direct relationships with poverty, immigration, and other progressive issues caused his work to evolve towards the social justice and human rights movements. He is currently the Communications Director at Insight Arts, is a member of Segundas Productions, and works as a freelance artist and graphic designer.
