Summer Essay of 08" - By Tyisha Jones - Insight Arts Theater of the Oppressed Summer Youth Program
My Reflection and my interest in this program is very explorable. My
interest in this problem is to calm myself down and to control my
attitude and to learn about all the things I don't know about Human
Rights. So far in this theatre of drama class we have learned a lot of stuff. I have had fun so far doing all the fun games and activities about expressing our feelings. And all the things we know about Human Rights.
The reason I said that I be having fun is because I got to know several new people just from the program. And I have fun doing new things and learning new things that I have never thought of before.
I knew before I got the job that I would end up liking it and just because it was some thing I could do during the summer instead of sit around and do nothing.
The most thing that I really like to talk about is the Human Rights of the Police Harassment because it s very hard to walk around my hose and the neighborhood because the police is always bothering innocent people walking down the street.
And by taking this program I learned that since me and my friends always getting stopped and harassed by several police mens in cars, we can do it even if their here we can stop it and ignore their appearance and who would really care anymore. We have the POWER to do anything.
I really like doing plays and expressing my feelings about all the Human Rights along that we all have to face 7 days a week!!!........And to be truthful it an't cool and I don't have time to face my problems inside and don't express how I felt!!!
My thoughts about the program at first wasn't that good until I spent like 22 days here then it was good because we was playing games and discussing things that we had to deal with as a big problem in life. And some of that stuff we be talking about really reveals a lot of pain inside that really hurts. But I learned a lot of stuff by taking this Program and this job wasn't even about the money it was about Drama when Celina told me it was like a drama class I knew right then that I was going to attend and like it and I was right.
Right now the play that we are all acting out is a little tough but we got it and not quit ready to start performing. Its very fun working and learning new things with new people. The
act is very interesting and we have a lot of reasons to do all of this
because all of it happens like very day somewhere around the world. And to express to other people how it happens and how we feel about it really helps out. And persuades people to stop all of the drama that goes on with Human Rights and anywhere.
