INCITE INSIGHT - Friday, March 6, 2009
INCITE INSIGHT on Friday, March 6, 2009
from 6 to 10 PM at the Wild Hare.

INCITE INSIGHT will feature a silent auction, raffle, contemporary dance performances, poetry, comedy and the bold and distinctive blend of Carribbean, East Indian, African and funk music derived from the wildly disparate musical and cultural backgrounds of Chicago’s own Funkadesi.
Insight Arts is a contemporary arts organization dedicated to increasing access to cultural work that supports progressive social change. Its unique organizational model allows them to engage in community based, regional and national work.
Insight Arts organizes its work around three core values: 1. Access to information, education and art is a basic human right; 2. Meaningful social change is dependent on the creation of cooperative social and political structures; and 3. Time for contemplation and analysis is crucial to community and individual empowerment.
Funkadesi formed in Chicago by a desire to jam Indian improvisations over reggae/funk grooves. They quickly garnered two Chicago Music Awards for their contribution to world music and scored opening gigs for bands like Los Lobos and Cracker. Their first release was a self-titled EP. In 2000, Funkadesi followed their EP with the release of the full-length debut titled Uncut Roots.
The Insight Arts Benefit will take place at the Wild Hare, a cultural oasis known to Chicago for over twenty years now as “America’s Reggae Capitol.” The Wild Hare is located at 3530 N. Clark St. in Wrigleyville.
The fun starts at 6:00. Tickets are $50 for adults, $30 students (with ID) and seniors, $20 children 12 and older. Please contact Insight Arts at info@insightartsliberation.com for group tickets and/or general information.
