Women Out Loud! Welcomes Spring
Insight Arts presents Women Out Loud! an open mic for women and women-identified writers/poets/performers that happens every fourth Friday of the month at the Center for New Possibilities on 1545 W. Morse. Women Out Loud! is a venue where women can spit fiery words in a nurturing space, and men are welcome to applaud and cheer. Featured writer Kristina Winters follows the open mic on April 26, 7-9pm, with her comedic overview of the world we live in. Her short stories and what she calls “pseudo-poems” are her personal commentary and insight into life. She has written plays, and other works, “none of which are published,” but finds joy in performing in front of audiences, as long as they laugh. She can be caught performing on a whim at open mikes around town.
Kris is a graduate of Miami University, with Bachelor’s degrees in History, Women’s Studies and Music Performance. She also received a Master’s in History from DePaul University. Kris is also in training with the Second City Training Center, focusing on Improv Comedy and Comedy Writing. She thinks she is terrible at both, but hopes to continue making something funny out of something ridiculous. She is also from Ohio. (She thought that was worth noting.)
Come and share your words, and/or just take a break from the week’s work woes and listen to fabulous women writers/performers read/do spoken word/sing. $5 suggested donation, $3 for open mic participants.
