Arte y Cine Popular - Friday, July 24

Insight Arts and The Latino Union of Chicago invite the Chicago community to a special event, ARTE Y CINE POPULAR / Art and Film of the Workers on Friday, July 24 at Café Catedral at 6:30 PM.  This is a free event.

Arte y Cine Popular
will include artwork created by Jornaleros (day laborers) from The Albany Park Workers' Center, a non-profit project of the Latino Union of Chicago that provides a safe and orderly space for employers and homeowners to find reliable workers at a fair price.  A documentary short film highlighting the worker center will be premiered at this event.  The exhibit will be on view one night only.  Café Catedral is located on 2900 S Christiana Ave in La Villita / Little Village.

The Latino Union collaborates with low-income immigrant workers to develop the tools necessary to collectively improve social and economic conditions.  Their mission is accomplished by developing leadership from within the immigrant worker community, developing feasible alternatives to the injustices immigrant workers face, and building the larger movement for immigrant worker rights.

Come out and learn more about work that Insight Arts and the Latino Union are doing and meet the artists.  As always, donations are appreciated.
